Habibi’s Tante gave me this vegan (Lenten) recipe when we visited a few months ago. I haven’t made it myself yet, but I did finish her entire supply the weekend we were there. I think I’m afraid of making it and having it come out dismal in comparison to hers :o).
anise seed (yansoon)
1 c. crushed almonds
1-1/4 c. sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix dry ingredients
Add wet ingredients
Mix and knead to a doughy consistency
Roll into baguettes
Bake until golden
Slice the baguette and lay each slice flat
Bake again at 350, turning when the first side looks about right (dark gold)
