2016 Review

I never know if people want to hear the Behind the Scenes stuff, but it's always so fascinating to me!

Coptic Dad & Mom - 2016 Review

I began this blog on a Blogger/Blogspot.com site nearly a decade ago. You can read more about that here.In this post, I'm going to be looking back at just the last year, from November 2015 to December 2016.VIEWS + POSTSIn the past year alone, we have had nearly 45,000 views to this site. For comparison, in the eight years prior to getting a separate domain my total views had just crossed 60,000. So in one year, I did 3/4 of the views of eight years prior... WOWZERS.With visitors from six continents (data isn't available for Antarctica LOL) and 110 countries, I'm completely blown away at how far reaching a little blog on the Coptic Church can be.The greatest monthly views were in December, followed by April and March. It's easy to see why when I look at the posts that were published in those time spans.I published 62 posts in 2016 alone. The most shared post by far (652 shares) was A Tale of Two Churches, about the tragic bombing of St. Peter's Church in Cairo). This was the reason so many new people visited Coptic Dad & Mom in December.Coffee with Coconut Milk: A Western Girl Tries Out Coptic Lent, the beautiful guest post from Jen from grace-filled.net was also incredibly popular.Other popular posts included Still Not Married (Jane's Story) and The Ultimate Guide to Holy Week.
Speaking of -- the Ultimate Guide to Holy Week was the most downloaded "freebie." I am so excited to revamp that and fix and add as needed for 2017!!FACEBOOK + E-MAILI also launched a Facebook page for Coptic Dad & Mom and a Facebook group for parents in the past year. The Facebook page launched in November, and we closed out 2016 with 2,125 likes. It's only in retrospect that I realize that's not too shabby!I also started a quiet e-mail list for those who wanted to receive a weekly digest of my posts. We're now at 350 subscribers.Later in the year, I wanted to launch WeServants.com with its own list. We Servants is a group of 360 with nearly 60 more on the waiting list, as of today. We ServantsFull disclosure: I'm not sure how much overlap there is between the two lists!PRODUCTS RELEASEDI created Becoming Tasoni, the ebook and the print edition, in this past year.I also created and launched Our Heavenly Friends (which is opening up again TODAY!!). Nearly 400 children received a poster and stickers of the saints and started their program learning about the saints! I really want to do a video update about that, but I just get so teary and choked up about it when I record the trial, that it's too big a risk :). I'm so blessed to be part of the lives of these children and to support their incredible and loving servants.CONCLUSIONSOverall, not a bad first year, wouldn't you say?Thank God for all His patience and His support and His infinite blessings. And thank you to all of you for sharing and commenting and liking and all the rest. Please pray for us 💖!In 2017, may God continue His great work in us all... to the glory of His holy name.
